Crysis 2 is Crytek’s intense action-packed graphically jacked-up FPS set in the year 2023, three years after the events after the original Crysis.
The world has been shaken by a series of viral, natural and economic disasters that has left most major cities in total ruins. You play as a marine named Alcatraz, the sole survivor of his team after the rest of his unit were killed during a kidnap mission. He is left stranded in a evacuated (bar a few very infected civilians) New York City. Alcatraz is promptly thrown head first into the middle of a destructive war between the privately owned militants C.E.L.L. and a deadly alien force named the Ceph.
As FPSs go these days there really isn’t that much that hasn’t been done ten times over, so aside from the jaw droppingly gorgeous graphics and the horribly average multiplayer demo that came out last month I was initially a wee bit sceptical about what Crytek was going to offer me with Crysis 2’s single player mode.
